North Fulton Life

The Chattahoochee River. Photo by me, July 2003.

I went out hiking today at the Jones Bridge Unit of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. I hiked about three hot, sweaty miles. I couldn't spend another minute trapped at home. Since it was not raining, this has been a wet summer, and the weather was sweltering it was perfect for me to get out. I figured exercise was in need. I hopped in my car with camera in tow and drove over to this park. It was deserted and quiet but I was there between 3P and 5P during the week so I would imagine it is busier on the weekend. I did see some cute guys and B is sure that I hooked up so I might as well mention them. All that I did was smile and speak when spoken to.

It was a great stress reliever to be out in the leafy green park and walk for a few hours alone. When I was kid I grew up in the woods and it is nice therapy to remember all the smells and sounds I had forgot; like wet leaves and rotting wood and  the sound of the leaves and underbrush rustling in the breeze.

My cell phone did not get a signal out there so for a brief while I was cut off from the modern world. Yes, that was nice.
Here are some more photos of my walk.

It is ironic that I live in North Fulton now. Years ago when I worked up here and lived elsewhere I would always complain about the traffic and the general feel of the place. It struck me as pretentious and snotty with kids driving BMWs and soccer moms in SUVs. Now that I have lived in the area in the heart of North Fulton I've come to love it. It's beautiful, convenient and mostly a quiet place to live. There is more access to shopping and more outdoor things to do in the area so I guess I'm a North Fulton resident for awhile longer. I hope I have not become snotty and pretentious too.

Lots of other things going on too.

My haircut is now buzzed the shortest I have ever had. I got it cut this way to stay cooler in the summer. I think it makes me look younger too and that is always important.

I got my first speeding ticket a couple of weekends ago. I was coming home from the office at 5AM and was pulled over for doing 80 mph in a 55 zone on GA 400. 25 miles over the limit will be expensive. I was not even the fastest car on the road that morning, but oh well, I guess it was my time.

Okay, B and I are about to have dinner and head out for the evening.
